Coombe Wood Golf Club

The Coombe Wood Golf Club covers 67 acres of the historic Coombe Estate. Its first Captain was A.J. Balfour in 1904 - the then Prime Minister. Its course is famed for seven challenging Par 3's complemented by tree lined Par 4's with blind tee shots and heavily bunkered greens. The course was extended in 1922 to 18 holes with a par of 66 under the Club Captain Field Marshal Earl Haig. The current members club was founded in 1936 and with a 14 year lease from the landowners. In 1994 after a succession of lease extensions the Club purchased a new 125 year lease from Kingston Council thus securing the Club for generations of members to come. The key to play this tight and often difficult course is to always ensure careful positioning of tee shots. One of the best exponents of this in recent years has been honorary member and 2004 English Amateur Champion now turned professional James Heath.Whatever your standard of golf you will always receive a warm greeting at Coombe Wood. The friendliest members club in Surrey welcomes societies, visitors and has room for a few new members in 2006. Look for details of our trial membership offer!
