Located deep in the historic 1066 English countryside, with breath-taking views across the high weald ridges and valleys, Dale Hill offers two courses of pure golfing delight. The venue is one of very few clubs which is able to successfully strike the balance between creating courses that are demanding enough to test professional and low handicap golfers whilst still being accessible for amateur and higher handicap players. The first of the two courses on offer is the Dale Hill Course, which opened 35 years ago. Without a doubt the best element of this 5859 par 69 course is its clever combination of both parkland and woodland terrain. The front nine is predominantly parkland, with a change of feel to woodland on the back nine. The change ensures that golfers are kept alert throughout their round, with strong course management and appropriate shot selection essential prerequisites for carding a low score. Created by the former Ryder Cup captain and Masters winner, the 6152-yard par 72 course is designed to USGA standards and demands accuracy and precision hitting. There are many spectacular challenges throughout the course the opening hole is one for the big hitters - a 600-yard par five demanding a long and accurate tee shot before sweeping down towards the first green. The 16th is a tightly wooded hole containing a deep, vegetation filled gully which requires an unerring approach shot into to a well-placed and fast running green.

Top Holes - John Tolliday, director of golf: 9th, 401 yards, par 4 Driving from an elevated tee you will need to find the plateau fairway to set up your approach to one of the most spectacular holes on the course. The sunken green is separated from the fairway by a large ravine and this is a shot I could play all day. 11th 579 yards, par 5 A good golfer’s hole and a challenge for any standard of player, regardless of your handicap. From the tee you must first drive through an avenue of trees and attempt to move the ball from right to left, then you are faced with a second shot that must be moved from left to right to avoid more trees and set up a wedge to the green. 17th 327 yards, par 4 Regarded as the signature hole, this short par 4 is heavily wooded and features a tight tee-shot. Come up short and you will be forced to go over the corner of some trees and attempt to find a small green that is guarded by a ditch that runs across its front.
