Dewsbury District Golf Club
Dewsbury District Golf Club was founded in 1891 and set on the hillside above Mirfield in West Yorkshire, this challenging, undulating parkland course offers panoramic views over the West Riding of Yorkshire.
The course is built on land which is known locally as "The Pinnacle”. It was originally designed as a nine-hole layout by four-time Open champion and St Andrews custodian Old Tom Morris. The layout was later converted to 18 holes by Ganton's Ted Ray in 1906 before further alterations were overseen by renowned golf designers Peter Allis and Dave Thomas in 1972.
Your round at Dewsbury District begins with two modest par-4s before kicking into life at the 440-yard par-4 third. This long hole sweeps downhill and features a narrow landing area from the tee, with the fairway playing up to a small green.

The first par-5 on the course comes at the 5th. Dauntingly named 'The Coffin', this hole features a severely sloping fairway which requires a tee shot aimed well to the right. Anything central or left will simply fall away into the rough. The approach follows the same pattern, and at 551 yards only the longest hitters will get close to the green in two.
This gorgeous par-3 is named 'Old Tom Morris' after its designer, and has out-of-bounds areas to both sides meaning accuracy is at a premium from the tee.The signature hole here however comes at the 9th. This gorgeous par-3 is named 'Old Tom Morris' after its designer, and has out-of-bounds areas to both sides meaning accuracy is at a premium from the tee. A tricky green means that a solid tee shot does not guarantee a par score. The par-4 14th is another signature hole. At 423 yards, this is another hole where only the biggest hitters will comfortably reach in two. The 14th offers lovely views of the surrounding landscape and plays with the local church in the backdrop. The recently refurbished clubhouse is the perfect place to end your round here, offering members and visitors a warm and friendly atmosphere and welcome. Access onto the balcony allows a closer look at the far-reaching views. The club's Pinnacle Suite can also cater for visiting parties or company golf days.
