Market Rasen Golf Club

ONE of Lincolnshire’s premier clubs, Market Rasen originated as a nine-hole layout on the western side of the town, not moving to its current Warren Farm site until 1922.  Over the years it progressed to its present 18 holes and 2001 saw a major redevelopment when holes 15, 16 and 17 were replaced with three top quality new ones.  Building developments began in 1968 to improve the clubhouse facilities, with further refurbishments undertaken to modernise the locker rooms, professional shop, casual lounge and bar. All these helped cement the club's stature as being one of the very best in the county. The course is a challenging, picturesque, heathland layout with many natural hazards, including the River Rase which meanders its way through several holes.  At 6,239 yards it is by no means the longest, but strategically-placed bunkers and its narrow, tree-lined fairways make it a stern test for golfers of all abilities. In 2001, three new holes in keeping with the heathland terrain were opened replacing the old 15th, 16th and 17th bringing the yardage up to 6209 yards.  2012 Centenary Celebrations: 1st August 2012 – Ladies Open Am/Am; 5th August – Men’s Open; 9th August – Open AM/AM (any combination ladies and gents); 23rd August – Seniors Open; 12th September – Ladies Autumn AM/AM.
