Morley Hayes Golf Club

Sitting equidistant between the M1 and the A38, Morley Hayes is ideally located for visitors from near and far. This non-member complex has tee-times readily available and the entire complex has been carefully designed to provide first-class hospitality for golfers, leisure seekers and corporate visitors alike. It is home to two courses, the 18-hole Manor course and the shorter 9-hole Tower layout, with both offering variety aplenty. The Manor is a robust 6,891 yards off the tips and features water on several holes, starting with the 379-yard 1st. Here a pond eats in from the right guarding the front of the fairway for any mis-hit approaches. That same stretch of water is in play on the short par-4 8th, a cute 331-yard dog-leg where you must try to fade the ball round the trees which line the right of the fairway. At the 405-yard 10th a pond encircles the right and back of the green and that watery grave is again a threat when you play the 17th, a par 5 of 544 yards, for anything pulled to the left. The Manor course offers a nice variety with short par 4s such as the aforementioned 8th as well as the 316-yard 9th combining with reachable par 5s at the 2nd - 481 yards off the tips. The short holes are all exacting though - no flicks with a wedge here; the shortest is the 170-yard 6th while the 12th is a punishing 230 off the blue tees.

The Tower is a distinctive, nine-hole, par-30 course designed for golfers requiring a quick game, or those who wish to improve their short game. It has three short par 4s and six par 3s of varied length. Off the course, with the wonderful views of the parkland courses amid the Derbyshire countryside Morley Hayes' AA four-star hotel is a wonderful retreat.
