Penwortham Golf Club

AFTER a recent course improvement programme which saw a host of new greens brought into play, Penwortham on the outskirts of Preston, is now one of the most unique and best-kept courses in Lancashire. On the holes which have felt the benefit of the massive investment, traditional shape and size putting surfaces have been replaced by humps and hillocks, bunkers and gullies and some of the best greens in the golf-saturated north west of England. The construction of new sand-based greens and an overhaul of the fairway drainage system has left Penwortham in the enviable position of now being one of the driest courses in the region and capable of handling the worst of the Winter weather. A variety of visiting and society day packages are available with the bright and spacious clubhouse capable of accommodating a visiting two ball or a sit down meal for a large group. Value for money parkland layout with many interesting features.
