Pontefract & District Golf Club
Pontefract and District Golf Club was established in 1904. The course is an attractive parkland course with many interesting holes. Because of its tight layout is a good test of golf for a par of 72 and a SSS of 69 from the yellow tees. The 4th, 5th, 13th and 14th holes are particularly challenging whilst the short par 3 17th is particularly attractive. The course was designed by Alistair MacKenzie famous as the designer of the Augusta National course and many other prominent American courses and incorporates three examples of the Mackenzie green. The Clubhouse has recently been refurbished and has a friendly atmosphere and a full catering service.
