Salisbury & South Wilts

Set in the glorious Wiltshire countryside close to the medieval City of Salisbury, both of the downland courses offer magnificent views for miles around. The testing Cathedral 18 hole layout has been in play since 1991 carefully combining holes from the Old course and new ones built in 1989, and the easier going Bibury 9 hole from the early 1900s again with holes that originally formed half of the Old course. All 27 holes are maintained to a very high standard by a dedicated team of professionals, with the quality of the greens and the presentation of the course highly praised by golfers throughout the year. Visitors are most welcome at the Club and once you have enjoyed the challenge of the courses and the ambience of the clubhouse you will want to come back time and time again. The Club's newly refurbished Pembroke Suite has dining facilities that can accommodate up to 140 people, and the new Meeting Room can comfortably host 40, making the Club an ideal venue for Conferences and Meetings, Corporate Events, Wedding Receptions, and Parties. The Club also hosts many social events, including Dinner and Dance Nights with live music, Discos, Quiz Evenings and the ever popular Sunday Carveries. NCG Reader review: Tony Parker Handicap 10.5 The Facilities were very good. The bar was very nice, locker rooms were also nice. A good pro shop stocked with a lot of different merchandise. Very good driving range with a good putting green too. The course was in top condition and very dry considering the rain we’ve had. The tee boxes were tidy, fairways dry and running fast and the greens were very good for this time of year. The best hole on the course was the 9^th. A 460 yard par 4 (off the yellow) which had a elevated tee down to a valley with your 2^nd shot up a steep hill to a bunkered green. I got a five on this hole which i was very pleased with !!!! Myself & Partner played very well on the day with him scoring 36 pts off 10 & myself with 39 points off 11. My tip for this course would be if you drive well you’ll score well. The two of us both drove well which is why we scored well, if we had held a couple of putts it could of been an outstanding round. I would go back especially in the winter when looking for a dry course. Also all the staff & members were very friendly and welcoming especially the secretary, pro & bar staff. A very enjoyable afternoon made all the better for playing ok too !
