Spanish Point
This nine-hole links was founded 1896 and is an essential stop-off when you are in Clare in order to play Doonbeg and Lahinch.
It is laid out around a few dunes and is short but perfectly challenging even for strong players.
Spanish Point demands accurate hitting to score well or face a dropped shot in the proper links bunkers.
It might be one of the cheapest green fees in our Fun Top 100, but that doesn't mean it is in modest nick, because the greens are in wonderful condition having undergone a facelift this millennium.
In addition to the funky surfaces and clever run-offs that make it so entertaining, the views are fabulous despite not being hard to the beach.
The vista from the 9th is especially spectacular, offering a view over the linksland of the whole course and out to sea.
The same scene can also be enjoyed from the 1st green and 2nd tee, and gets the round off to a super start.
