THE Kingdom of Fife needs no introduction as a golfing destination but there are so many fine courses that it is inevitable some tend to be overlooked. St Michaels, well over a hundred years old, is an excellent example, a friendly club with a well-presented course offering visitors a great-value day out and a warm welcome.At 5,800 yards and with a par of 70, St Michaels’ defences are subtle – take the 265-yard 17th that looks juicy enough on the scorecard but rather scarily has out of bounds on all four sides!
