Staddon Heights Golf Club

Staddon Heights enjoys a wonderful cliff top setting enjoying commanding views over the historic Plymouth Sound.  It was founded in 1904 as the United Services Golf Club, a title retained until 1969 when the then predominantly civilian membership purchased the course - mainly from the Ministry of Defence. This 18-hole cliff-top course is situated on the outskirts of Plymouth and offers outstanding views of the Devon and Cornwall coastline.  A scorecard showing 6,226 yards is not a scary prospect and the first two holes give further rise to the suggestion you are in for an easy round with a short par 4 followed by a par 3.  However the 3rd is the hardest on the course, a long 450-yard par 4. Following that there is a much shorter hole, little more than 250 yards, but after that there is the first par 5 to test your long game.  The back nine is free of par 5s but the 14th, in particular, is cracker. It is a 367-yard par 4 with a dangerous water hazard and can often prove to be a card-wrecker. With green fees very reasonably priced, the club also offer a lot of competitions for seniors and ladies. Open to everyone, if you come along to Staddon Heights, you won't be disappointed.
