Ufford Park Golf Club
ABOUT
This is one of Suffolk's premier golf destinations. Set in 120 acres of unspoiled countryside near Woodbridge, Ufford Park is home to a superb 18-hole parkland course that has held many televised events as well as practice facilities to be proud of, including a two-tier, floodlit driving range and an 18-hole putting green.
Off the course there is a superb restaurant and sports bar, health club, teaching academy, and American Golf shop stocking a huge range of equipment.
There's also an impressive Best Western hotel on site, complete with 87 well-finished en-suite bedrooms, with balconies and excellent views.
THE COURSE
A STUNNING parkland layout, 18-hole Ufford Park is regarded as an enjoyable yet exacting test of golf.
A tricky par 71, it has hosted several professional events including Sky-televised PGA EuroPro tournaments and the Best Western Senior Masters.
The course features an interesting selection of fiddly short holes and powerful long holes, and water plays a huge part - coming into play on no less than 12 holes.
The course therefore offers several risk and reward opportunities. Indeed, if you're playing well, there is a great chance of low scores.
Finally, thanks to a good team of greenkeeprs and free-draining soil, the course is playable throughout the year.
A stunning parkland layout, 18-hole Ufford Park is regarded as an enjoyable yet exacting test of golf. A tricky par 71CARD WRECKER 6th, 602 yards, par 5 FROM the sky, this hole doesn't look too difficult - it's very straight and it doesn't look unplayable. However, even after your Sunday best tee shot, it's pretty much impossible to get anywhere near the green in two. Unless you know and trust your yardages, and can plot your way up this hole sensibly, you have it all on to make par. BIRDIE CHANCE 13th, 294 yards, par 4 EVEN off the tips, this short par-4 is in reach for the bigger hitters who can cut the corner of the slight right-to-left dog-leg. Even if you can't reach the green, there's still a solid birdie chance as even short hitters will have a short iron into the green. LOCATION 25 minutes from the centre of Ipswich GREEN FEES 2012 From £20 weekdays; from £30 weekends
