Blackwell Grange Golf Club

Blackwell Grange utilises its scenic parkland settings to offer a wonderful round of risk-reward golf. In addition to the many established trees throughout the course, in the last 10 years a further 7,000 specimens have been planted – bringing added beauty to an already remarkable setting. Your round starts with a 407-yard, slightly uphill tee shot. Trees right and left of the fairway and a large oak tree protect the approach to the green, meaning an opening par is a good one. The 2nd is a great risk-reward par-5. After your tee shot you must decide to take on the pond or lay-up and play for a two-putt par. The 8th, at 337-yards, requires you to drive over the crest of the hill to the fairway, which doglegs to the left. There are trees on the inside of the dogleg and a tricky green that slopes sharply to the right.
The final hole is a 190-yar par-3 often proves to be psychologically difficult, with the out-of-bounds car park close to the left of the green and bunkers short and right.
The 10th sees the chance to pick-up a shot with a well-placed drive. At 294 yards you must decide to take on the two fairway bunkers or lay-up and pitch to the green, which slopes from front to back. The second shot is to a long green, which slopes from front to back, with out-of-bounds to the left rear of the green. The 295-yard par-4 15th requires a precise tee shot between trees and over a water hazard. A carry of 150 yards is required to clear the pond and land on a fairway, which slopes from left to right. If you manage that, two formidable bunkers must be cleared to reach the green, which has a wall and out-of-bounds at the rear. The final hole is a 190-yar par-3 often proves to be psychologically difficult, with the out-of-bounds car park close to the left of the green and bunkers short and right and another two right and left of the green, ensuring a tricky finish to the round. Blackwell Grange is located South West or Darlington, just off the A1 (M).
It welcomes visitors and golfers of all ages and abilities to its 18-hole parkland course, just 2 miles from Darlington town centre.
