
Burgham Park Golf Club
Home of the North Region PGA championship October 2006, Burgham Park is a championship parkland course in the Northumberland countryside.
It is just 20 minutes from Newcastle and just a few miles north of Morpeth, just off the A1.
Burgham Park has panoramic views of the Simonside hills to the West and the coast to the East.
The course is set in beautiful rolling countryside provides a challenging round for all abilities.
Playing off the championship tees measuring 7,065 yards, the medal tees at 6,804 yards and the leisure tees at 6,403 yards.
The maturing parkland has water hazards and is both beautiful and tranquil, including some of the finest greens in the region.
The numerous improvements to the course include several fairway ditches, a lake on the 13th, many reshaped bunkers and several new tees.Former Ryder Cup captain Mark James was part of the design team that developed the course in 1994, which has been constantly improved over the years. Since 2001 the course has been under the ownership of Irish businessmen, John Fallon and William Kiely. Their long-term commitment to the course has been evidenced by the ongoing ten year improvement plan. The numerous improvements to the course include several fairway ditches, a lake on the 13th, many reshaped bunkers and several new tees. The improvements in drainage and extensive pathway work ensure that the course is invariably open all year round playing on summer greens and tees. The course is complemented by a grass bay driving range, an excellent practice area and a par three course.
