Harborne Golf Club
Established in 1893, Harborne lies just three miles south-west of the centre of Birmingham.
It is also situated less than five miles from Jcts. 2 and 3 of the M5, making it one of the most accessible clubs in the Midlands.
Given the convenient location, it comes as no surprise that the club is a popular wedding and function venue. The function room is capable of seating up to 140 guests, while there is ample parking on-site.
Despite these attractions, the jewel in the crown is the par-70, 6,210-yard championship course. Designed by Harry S. Colt, the layout is set in undulating terrain and features a collection of built-up greens.

While the club has updated the bunkering over recent years, the course has remained largely unaltered since it was opened in 1924.
Colt's innovative design work and clever use of angles means that Harborne is home to some of the best holes in the region. This can only be seen as a positive given that Colt's innovative use of angles, in particular, has made for some of the best holes in the region. The sixth, for instance, lives long in the memory. Ranked as one of the top par-threes in the Midlands, the 194-yard hole features a narrow, undulating green. The wind is also a factor after the club removed the trees from the back of the green, restoring Colt's original design for the hole. Most members concede that the 13th hole is the best on the course. Featuring a blind tee shot over a marker post set at 200 yards, the hole offers up a tough putt no matter where you land your approach on the sloping green. The club welcomes visitors throughout the week and charges £50 for a round, while £70 grants you a day's play on the layout. The price drops dramatically for members' guests, however, who are able to pay-and-play for under £20.
