Lewisham Council

The Golf Course is set out in the ancient woodland of Beckenham Place Park and provides a challenge for all levels of golfers. A golf shop, changing rooms and community cafe / bar are housed within a picturesque mansion House which overlooks the park. The Mansion House, a Grade Two* listed building, was built about 1780 by Thomas Cator, a local businessman who used it as his home and business premises. The Golf Club first opened in 1907 when a group of local residents took out a 21 year lease on part of the grounds to form the Foxgrove Golf Club, this was then taken over by the London Council in 1928. The Friends of Beckenham Place Park also have a visitor center in the building, which is open to the public on Sundays from 2-4pm. Contact the secretary for details @ bpp@ntlworld.com The lovely formal gardens provide a tranquil setting for visitors and are well worth a visit. There is also a picnic area at the rear of the gardens.
