Although not at the same level as perhaps the Ayrshire or Aberdeenshire coastlines, the Scottish capital city of Edinburgh still has plenty to offer when it comes to high quality golfing venues.

As the Scottish capital, there are plenty of places to stay in Edinburgh, which is also the largest city north of the border. However, if you fancy staying somewhere that is perfect for a stay-and-play, then take yourself to Dalmahoy, the first European host of the Solheim Cup back in 1995. The venue is home to the East Course and the West Course, giving guests 36 holes to enjoy during their time at the resort.

Royal Burgess and Bruntsfield Links are not only the two links offerings west of Edinburgh, but they also have plenty of history. The former is the home to the oldest golfing society in the world, while Bruntsfield dates back to the 1760s, making it the fourth oldest golf club in the world.

Further inland, Ratho Park is one of the prettiest parkland courses north of the border. The likes of Duddingston and Mortonhall also offer parkland beauty, while the trees at Braid Hills have been replaced with bright yellow gorse, gorgeous through the summer months.

How we compiled our Edinburgh list
We updated our Edinburgh list when we created our NCG Top 100s list of the best golf courses in Scotland. If one course is above another in our Scotland list, then it will also be above it in our list of courses around the Scottish capital.
