NCG Top 100s course rankings Great Britain & Ireland Courses
Welcome to the NCG Top 100s list of the best golf courses in Great Britain & Ireland. This list is our pride and joy and we would like to think it can help you plan and enjoy countless golf trips. The NCG Top 100 list of courses in Great Britain & Ireland is an ongoing project. We first published a GB&I Top 100 in 2019 and we continue to update it on an annual basis. This list is an amalgamation of the four lists we compile on the home nations: England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Great Britain and Ireland have the richest of histories when it comes to golf. The game has been played here in a recognisable form for longer than anywhere else in the world. It is the unique nature of the courses that are on offer that sets it apart from any other golfing region in the world. Links golf is synonymous with Great Britain & Ireland. It is the only part of the world where you can find true links golf courses, a blessed handful of which of which have hosted the Open Championship . Our list of the best golf courses in Great Britain & Ireland features a mix of both coastal and inland venues. From St Enodoc in the southwest of England to St Patrick's Links at Rosapenna in the north-west of Ireland, almost every corner of Great Britain and Ireland is home to a spectacular seaside course. The interiors of the home nations, especially England, are similarly blessed – and contain some of the best heathland courses in the world. Just as at the world-famous links courses, what makes them special are the firm, fairways and greens that call upon the golfer to use judgment as well as strength. Starring the likes of St Andrews , Trump Turnberry , Royal St George's , Royal Portrush , Royal Porthcawl and many, many more, it is a list that is sure to stimulate debate and inspire future golf trips in equal measure. How did we get to our top 100? We compiled top 100 lists of the best courses in each of England , Ireland , Scotland and Wales . We then combined these together to make an NCG Top 100s list of the best courses across Great Britain and Ireland. Courses who didn't wish to be involved in this list Bearwood Lakes, Queenswood, Wentworth (East & West), The Wisley and Woburn were all on the longlist for our NCG Top 100s England ranking. However, these six courses did not wish be considered. We are entirely respectful of their decision and list them here only because you might otherwise have wondered why they do not appear in the list. Because we did not rank them, we make no comment on whether they would or would not have made this GB&I list.
