Welcome to the NCG Top 100s list of the very best links golf courses in Great Britain & Ireland.
There are four main types of golf course in England - heathland, parkland, moorland and links - with the latter being arguably what this country is best known for.
Links golf courses are located around the coastline of Great Britain and Ireland, with many of the country's best courses being based on that pristine sandy turf.
Each year, the Open Championship is played on a links course, with all ten courses that are on the current hosting rotation - Carnoustie's Championship Course, Muirfield, Royal Birkdale, Royal Liverpool, Royal Lytham & St Annes, Royal Portrush, Royal St George's, Royal Troon (Old), Trump Turnberry's Ailsa Course and the Old Course at St Andrews - sitting on our GB&I Links list.
How did we get our top 100?
Our GB&I Links list comes directly from our Great Britain & Ireland list to begin with, before then looking at the best scoring links venues that sit across the England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland lists to complete the top 100.
