As the biggest city in the north of England, it is no surprise that Manchester and its surrounding areas is home to plenty of stunning golf courses. As you would expect, there are plenty of great spots that you can stay in Manchester. The centre of Manchester is great for nightlife and culture as well, to add to a trip, with the majority of courses sitting to the south of the city.
Our list extends to those within a 25-mile radius of the centre of Manchester, including courses in Lancashire, Cheshire and Derbyshire. Our reasoning for picking a 25-mile radius is that you shouldn't have to drive more than an hour from your base in Manchester to play these great courses!
Stockport and Manchester are the two courses within just a few miles of the city centre, and both have had either designs or alterations from the great Harry Colt. That in itself make them both worth a visit!
Further afield, the likes of Delamere Forest, Prestbury and Cavendish to the south are all on the NCG Top 100s: England list. All three have their own charms, with the latter being one of the best moorland layouts in the entire country.
How we compiled our Manchester list
We updated our Manchester list when we created our NCG Top 100s list of the best golf courses in England. If one course around the city is above another in our England list, then it will also be above it in our Manchester list.
