Hertfordshire is one of several counties that borders London, and there are plenty of stunning golfing venues to tempt you to visiting. Both old and new woodland courses are on offer, all in such close range of the English capital.

Just to the north of London, with the English capital around an hour away by road or rail, you can easily park yourself in the city centre for a trip to play some of Hertfordshire's finest courses. Watford, St Albans and Stevenage offer up other places to stay, all of which are close by the M1 for road routes north.

The old favourites, such as the bunkerless Berkhamsted, are among Hertfordshire's finest courses. Ashridge is another of those that has been around for years, but the quality has never dropped, like many on this list.

There are also newer venues, such as The Grove and the Centurion Club. The latter has only been around since 2013, but has already played host to the LIV Golf League and the Aramco Team Series on the Ladies European Tour. The Grove is a former World Golf Championships host, meaning you can follow in the footsteps of the likes of Tiger Woods, Jon Rahm and Nelly Korda by playing at either of these two venues.

How we compiled our Hertfordshire list
We updated our Hertfordshire list when we created our NCG Top 100s list of the best golf courses in England. If one course in the county is above another in our England list, then it will also be above it in our Hertfordshire list.
