The West Coast of Ireland is the home to some stunning scenery, and of course, some epic golfing venues. This is thanks to more than 1,000 miles of coastline along the western side of the country.

There are plenty of places along the western coastline that can be called a base for a golf trip, including the likes of Galway and Sligo, but a trip to this region will more than likely see you staying in a number of different spots as you make your way along the coast, whether that be north or south. There is a stay-and-play option at Trump Ireland, with the golf course being among the finest in the region. County Clare is also the home to Lahinch, a former home of the Irish Open on the DP World Tour.

Further south, there is a plethora of choice when it comes to where you might want to play a round of golf. Ballybunion is the home to 36 holes of golf on the coast, with the Old Course and the Cashen Course both offering different challenges, while the southwest of the country is also home to Tralee and Waterville as well.

To the north, and moving closer towards Northern Ireland, there are more great golf courses. Enniscrone is just one of those, while Carne and County Sligo should also be on your list for that part of the country.

How we compiled our West Coast of Ireland list
We updated our West Coast of Irelandlist when we created our NCG Top 100s list of the best golf courses in Ireland. If one course on the West Coast of Ireland is above another in our Ireland list, then it will also be above it in our West Coast of Ireland list.
