You won't find any links golf courses in the West Midlands of England, but you will find some stunning inland layouts. The region, home to England's second city - Birmingham - is a great area to spend a week, playing some of the best inland courses in the country.
Thanks to its location in the middle of the country, and with a large train station and airport, Birmingham is the ideal city to base yourself. The majority of the venues that make up our West Midlands list are within a short drive from the city.
The course that is the furthest from Birmingham, is perhaps one of the more well known, especially after its recent affiliation with the LIV Golf League. The JCB Golf & Country Club is an annual host of the Saudi-backed tour, but even prior to that, everyone knew of the venue thanks to the infamous par 3 17th.
The West Midlands has plenty of golf to offer, with the likes of Beau Desert - a glorious Herbert Fowler design - and Little Aston, with the names of Harry Vardon and Harry Colt behind its design, among the best of the region. You can also add Sutton Coldfield, Copt Heath, Blackwell and plenty of others to that list as well.
If you're looking for a golfing venue to rest your head at night, then there is no better place in the West Midlands than The Belfry Resort. It is one of the best-known golfing venues in the country, with the Brabazon Course being one of the most iconic golf courses in England. With a quartet of Ryder Cups to its name, along with an annual DP World Tour event, and THAT 10th hole, it is certainly a golf course that everyone must play at least once.
