You won't find any links courses in the English county of Surrey, but that does not detract from the quality of layouts that there are. With heathland beauties galore, it can easily be argued that Surrey is the best region when it comes to golf in the entire country.

With such a high number of incredible courses, you can understand why. They are all within a short distance from the English capital city of London, and with a number of those inside the M25, there are a number of great options when it comes to staying in the area and planning your trip to Surrey.

The county is home to two of the most iconic English venues of all time. Sunningdale, with its Old Course and New Course, has played host to the AIG Women's Open and the Senior Open Championship in its history. And then, don't forget Walton Heath! Also a venue with an Old Course and a New Course, and having hosted both events like Sunningdale, Walton Heath is also a former host of the Ryder Cup - doing so back in 1981.

There is the golden triangle of Worplesdon, West Hill and Woking, with these three courses with just a couple of miles of each other. Add in the likes of St George's Hill, Hankley Common, Hindhead and New Zealand, along with several other high-quality tracks, and you are in a golfing paradise in Surrey.

The region also has a glorious stay-and-play option - the Foxhills Resort. The venue, which has a wonderful hotel with plenty of rooms, is also the home to two 18-hole golf courses. The Bernard Hunt Course and the Longcross Course both offer different challenges, in the perfect spot for a short break to the region.
