Doha

This is one of the oldest golf courses in the region, being founded in 1998 and making an instant mark on the world stage. That was when this grass course - then a rarity in the Middle East - hosted the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters as a second stop on the European Tour’s 'Middle East swing'. Scotsman Andrew Coltart won that inaugural event and the tournament has hosted stars from the tour almost every year since then. This oasis of green in the desert was designed by Peter Harradine and offers a proper test of all aspects of your game. That is especially true in the afternoon, when the wind notoriously creeps up and can very quickly become a key factor in the round. There are many fine holes here but two of the highlights are the 9th and 18th, which are played to a backdrop of the expansive Arabian-style clubhouse.
