Aphrodite Hills Overview | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

A DP World Tour Venue

Aphrodite Hills is the home to a wondrous championship golf course, designed by world-renowned golf course architect Cabell Robinson. The course only opened in 2002, but it has gone on to be described as one of the best golfing venues in the Mediterranean.

The Aphrodite Hills Championship Course is laid out across more than 6,800 yards of stunning Cypriot landscape, and it overlooks the site where Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, is said to have emerged from the sea.

There are some incredible holes on the course, starting with the 3rd. This par-5 measures at more than 620 yards from the back tee, which sits over the canyon. The 7th is a 230-yard par-3 which is all carry over a large ravine. The 10th and 18th are the only two holes with water hazards, with these hazards making golfers think about wanting to go for the green on two.

The course played host to the DP World Tour during the COVID-19 pandemic. For back-to-back weeks in October and November 2020, the Championship Course at Aphrodite Hills was the venue for the tour. Callum Shinkwin won the Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Open, before Robert MacIntyre was victorious in the unique Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Showdown, which saw 16 players feature on the final day in an 18-hole shootout.
