When we played in April the course was rather wet underfoot. There are some superb holes and virtually all of the green complexes are top drawer. The walks between tees are definitely the main negative.

JCB impressed me greatly. Matching hole for hole, I haven't seen a GB&I modern inland course which is in its class. If the right tees are chosen, the course offers the golfer loads of variety in terms of hole lengths, green styles/locations & terrain. The major drawback of the design is the walk. Given the property and desire to host golfing abilities from touring pro to rank handicappers, while not desirable, the tough walk is understandable. Regardless, with so many positive attributes, an invitation to play JCB should not be turned down.

The showpiece 17th, almost designed for TV screens, is the pick of the bunch.

I was disappointed by the layout, but the condition was good. I feel they could have done a lot more with the piece of land.

Oustanding professional tournament venue with risk / reward holes and dramatic features from the initial tee shot off the first. This absolutely ticks the design brief, as you could imagine thousands of spectators around many holes; however, it seemed a little disjointed and a collection of wonderfully designed holes rather than a thoughtfully routed course, but by far the best parkland course I have played in England

Highly rated, and I can see why. It was a very long and brutal from long.
