An exceptional front 9, capped by the quite incredible dogleg around the Atlantic that is the 2nd. Fades slightly on the back but Portsalon is top class.

With its closeness to the sea, the setting is quite breathtaking. The fairways are tight and undulating, making it an extremely challenging course. The second hole is especially outstanding and is known as a classic in Irish golf circles. Some of the greens are shared which makes the course different from the norm. It is predominately fescue greens which are true and fast but some of the fairways are somewhat patchy.
